Embracing the mission
Concordia's Cornerstones reflect the knowledge, skills, attitudes, competencies, and habits of mind that our students are expected to acquire. These Cornerstones highlight student learning at three levels: the overall university level, the department/major level; the core curriculum program level.
Concordia's student learning outcomes flow from our mission of helping students develop in mind, body and spirit in service to Christ in the Church and in the World.
Concordia University Cornerstones
University graduates are well developed in mind, body, and spirit, fulfill their vocations, and serve Christ in the Church and the world.

Christ at the Center
Concordians seek to deeply understand the world and our place within it through the lens of Christ’s sacrifice and redemption.
Prioritizing the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions that convey God’s will for humanity in Christ, Concordia graduates will joyfully articulate the Holy Trinity’s active work in all phases of creation, redemption, and sanctification. As God’s precious children redeemed by Christ, we find purpose, meaning and beauty in His design.

Excellence and Truth
Concordians are intellectually curious and free to pursue truth through critical thinking, analysis, and creativity.
Integrating discipline-specific knowledge and the liberal arts, Concordia graduates will pursue truth and exhibit excellence as they pose fundamental questions and address challenging problems. Created in God’s image, we pursue knowledge and excellence with both confidence and humility.

Vocation as Service
Concordians are inspired, empowered and called by God’s redeeming love to be immersed in lives of impactful service.
Marshaling the intellectual, physical, and spiritual gifts nurtured in academic and co-curricular experiences, Concordia graduates will display courage and integrity as they prepare to advance human flourishing. Grounded in the Lutheran understanding of vocation, we gratefully answer God’s call to serve Christ and our neighbors in the Church and the world.
