Each and every day, lives are being changed through the ministry of Lutheran high schools throughout the country. Concordia University Wisconsin and Ann Arbor seeks to highlight and celebrate the distinctive contributions of staff within our Lutheran high schools whose uncommon service, excellence, and dedication make an uncommon and eternal difference in the lives of others through the power of the Holy Spirit.

During each calendar year, up to six awards will be given to support staff, teaching faculty, and school administrators in Lutheran high schools. Digital nominations may be submitted at any time with annual recipients announced each May.

Uncommon Service Excellence in a Lutheran High School

The Uncommon Service Excellence in a Lutheran High School award is bestowed on up to three recipients annually, is open to any Lutheran high school employee (i.e., support staff, teaching faculty, administration) and celebrates individuals that consistently demonstrate exceptional skills, excellent service, and a steadfast commitment to advancing the mission of their Lutheran high school within their respective area of endeavor. Honorees daily exceed expectations while demonstrating dedication, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the students of their Lutheran high school. Recipients serve as role models and mentors, inspiring others to strive for excellence, and make a positive and distinctive impact in their Lutheran high school.

Recipients will receive a customized award banner, CUWAA merchandise, a $250 award, and recognition for themselves and their school on the landing page listing past recipients.

Uncommon Academic Excellence in a Lutheran High School

The Uncommon Academic Excellence in a Lutheran High School award is presented to up to two individuals annually, is open to any Lutheran high school educator or an administrator with classroom teaching duties and elevates exceptional academic ability and outstanding service in teaching, learning, and scholarship. These recipients are recognized broadly by students and others as gifted classroom educators who demonstrate consistent dedication, intellectual curiosity, and excellence. Awardees invest in their students, both within and outside of the classroom. Their ministry is an uncommon and integral component of what distinguishes the Lutheran high school in which they serve.

Recipients will receive a customized wall plaque, CUWAA merchandise, a free graduate or doctoral class as a degree-seeking student (minimum of $1,600 value, transferable within their Lutheran high school), and recognition for themselves and their school on the landing page listing past recipients.

Uncommon Leadership Excellence in a Lutheran High School

The Uncommon Leadership Excellence in a Lutheran High School award is presented to one individual annually, is open to any Lutheran high school administrator and distinguishes someone who has demonstrated consistently an uncommon ability to inspire, guide, and motivate both the staff and students they serve. Awardees embody qualities such as vision, integrity, decisiveness, and effective communication. These administrators make significant and ongoing contributions to their Lutheran high school and its broader community, modeling Christian servant leadership as they advance the school mission. Celebrated individuals care deeply and directly for all stakeholders of their Lutheran high school, including students, families, staff, board, and community members.

The recipient will receive a customized desk award, CUWAA merchandise, a free graduate or doctoral class as a degree-seeking student (minimum of $1,600 value, transferable within their Lutheran high school), $250 donation in their honor to an endowed CUWAA scholarship of their choice or as a gift to their Lutheran high school, and recognition for themselves and their school on the landing page listing past recipients.
