The goal of our post-graduate nursing certificate is to prepare currently licensed Nurse Practitioners as mental health NPs. We accomplish this by balancing theory and hands-on practice through fully online coursework paired with local practicum hours. You'll expand your current skillset as you become even more compassionate providers ready to administer the best possible care to your patients' minds, bodies, and spirits.

Online coursework is built on a Lutheran-Christian foundation and emphasizes scientific study in neurobiology, neuropathophysiology, and psychotherapy. Practicum hours are designed to be flexible and fit into your schedule, so you may continue to work while you're enrolled in the program. You'll complete 500 required clinical hours under qualifying supervision. Ultimately it is your responsibility to find a clinical placement, but our Clinical Contract Coordinator will help you navigate the placement process.

Complete the required coursework and practicum hours in as little as one year, (3 semesters) and graduate with the competencies and qualifications for the diagnosis and treatment of your patient's mental health needs. View a sample curriculum plan here.

What to Expect

Upon completion of Concordia's psychiatric mental health post-graduate certificate, you'll be eligible to sit for the nursing boards. As a certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner you'll be able to make an even greater impact on your patients' lives. You will no longer need to refer patients to other mental healthcare providers but rather you'll be able to provide comprehensive, faith-based care for your patients throughout their lifespan.

Please note: International students (those who were educated outside of the U.S. and/or require an F1 visa) are not eligible for this fully online program.
