Sharing Seasonal Blessings
In honor of the Thanksgiving season, we will be hosting a Food Drive for the Hunger Task Force from Monday, November 10, to Friday, November 21. Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee’s only free and local food bank and Wisconsin’s anti-hunger leader. When choosing items to donate from the grocery store shelf, think about fruit packed in its own juices; low- and no-salt vegetables; low-fat dairy foods; lean meats and whole grain foods. While they are always accepting donations of healthy, nutritious food, they would like to remind all groups that there are a few items currently in shorter supply and would be much appreciated:
-Healthy breakfast grains (whole grain/sugar free cereals, oatmeal)
-Canned veggies (no salt added)
-Canned fruits (no sugar added/in their natural juices)
-Peanut butter
Each box corresponds with a grade level as we are making it a competition, but you are welcome to donate food items to whichever box you’d like. Whichever grade donates the most items (according to how many items are in their box), will get a prize!
