Undergraduate

Minimum English test scores for direct undergraduate academic admission:

  • Duolingo: 95
  • First Cambridge: 160/B2
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6
  • Kaplan Test of English (KTE): 445 (book here, and use code "CUWKRS25" for a 25% discount)
  • Michigan English Test (MET): 53
  • Oxford ELLT: 6.0 (book here, and use code “CUW10” for a discounted rate)

  • Pearson English Language Test (PTE): 55
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 61

School of Nursing Requires a TOEFL score of > 79, an IELTS score of > 6.5, a PTE score of 61 or a Duolingo score of 100.

English test exemptions:

  • Submission of ACT/SAT test
  • Completion of IB Curriculum, British O or A levels
  • Home country that is test exempt
  • Previously studied for at least 1 year in an English test exempt country
  • Completed a bachelor’s degree in an English Test Exempt country
  • Completed ESL coursework from our partners (MLC, WESLI, ELS)
Graduate

Minimum English test scores for direct graduate academic admission:

  • Advanced Cambridge: 180/C1
  • Duolingo: 105
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.5
  • Kaplan Test of English (KTE): 480 (book here, and use code "CUWKRS25" for a 25% discount)
  • Michigan English Test (MET): 58
  • Oxford ELLT: 7 (book here, and use code “CUW10” for a discounted rate)

DPT, MOT and OTD

International applicants to the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Occupational Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs who would attend on a student visa and whose native language is not English must show proficiency in the English language. The test score cannot be more than two years old at the time of application.

For these programs, there are no exceptions to these minimum scores:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 89
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.5
  • Duolingo: 120

Other requirements:

  • Home country that is test exempt
  • Previously studied for at least 1 year in an English Test Exempt country
  • Completed a bachelors/masters degree in an English Test Exempt country

English Proficiency Partners for Conditional Admission

Concordia University Wisconsin has agreements with various language schools such as ELS, WESLI, MLC and others. Students who are interested in attending CUW but did not meet the English proficiency score can choose to attend one of our partner English language schools.

Students who attend one of our partner language schools will be considered for admission as a transfer student once the proper level is achieved. If interested in this option, please reach out to international.admissions@cuw.edu for additional information.
